Abstract: The present study deals with the specificity of language modeling of the current media discourse based on graphic derivatives with the components Z and V. The need to study the linguistic units of the figurative system underlying the modeling of the current media discourse is determined by the conflict and aggressiveness of the modern world and the significance of the ongoing military and political events. Accurate and correct communication of information to the mass addressee in political media texts presupposes purposeful axiological interpretation of information reality under the influence of intralinguistic and extralinguistic factors. The wide connotative background of such units and the emergence of new images, scenarios and associations allow forming the opinion of the mass addressee. The materials for the study comprise texts published in electronic newspapers, magazines, and news agencies during the period from February to March 2022, as well as forums, chats, blogs, and political illustrations related to the research topics. As a result of their investigation, the authors of the article have identified a corpus of linguistic facts based on the letters Z and V and have outlined their contextual meanings and semantic and pragmatic features of implementation in the current media space. They have also proved the significance of linguistic units based on the elements Z and V in the linguistic consciousness of the representatives of the Russian language culture and their important role in reflecting modern sociopolitical realities.
