Abstract: The paper focuses on the analysis of basic metaphorical models representing the image of f the USSR / Russia in American and contemporary Russian political discourse. The analysis reveals the dynamic nature of metaphorical image of Russia in American political discourse. It also argued that some American and Russian metaphorical models are common while others are culturally peculiar
