Abstract: Here we discuss some metaphors that exist in Russian daily speech and are applied when we want to stress out some relevant features and traits of our contemporaries (political leaders for the most part). The metaphors presented in this article are based on N. Gogol‟s characters and their names (Chichikov, Nozdrev, Khlestakov, Manilov, etc.). Further detail concerns the way this precedent frame functions in modern Russian press
