Аннотация: Статья посвящена исследованию исторического дискурса романа Дэна Джонса «The Wars of the Roses. The Fall of the Plantagenets and the Rise of the Tudors». Предметом исследования выступают представленные в тексте романа метафорические выражения с лексемой «blood». Целью работы является установление с помощью метода контекстуального анализа коммуникативной функции данных метафорических выражений, выявление лежащих в их основе концептуальных метафор и прототипического значения. Результаты исследования показывают, что метафорические выражения с лексемой «blood» основаны на концептуальных метафорах с областью-источником «смешивание». Данные метафоры формируют у читателя определенное представление о прошлом, участвуя в концептуализации таких абстрактных понятий, как «брачный союз», «происхождение», «родство», «наследование», «легитимность власти» и др. Они опираются на базовые онтологические метафоры с областями-источниками «деятель», «контейнер», «субстанция» и способствуют аксиоматизации исторических нарративов. Результаты исследования позволяют говорить о том, что концептуальные метафоры формируют ментальные пространства, через которые читатель воспринимает исторические события. Одновременно они являются средством языкового моделирования исторической реальности, которая недоступна для непосредственного восприятия индивидом.

Abstract: The paper studies the historical discourse of Dan Jones' novel “The Wars of the Roses. The Fall of the Plantagenets and the Rise of the Tudors”. The research object includes metaphorical expressions with the lexeme “blood” in the text of the novel. The research aims to discover the communicative function of these metaphorical expressions and to identify the underlying conceptual metaphors and prototypical meanings via contextual analysis. The results of the study show that metaphorical expressions with the lexeme “blood” are based on conceptual metaphors with the source domain “mixing”. These metaphors give the reader a certain idea of the past, conceptualizing such abstract concepts as “marriage”, “origin”, “kinship”, “inheritance”, “legitimacy of power”, etc. They rely on basic ontological metaphors with source domains “actor”, “container”, “substance” and contribute to the axiomatization of historical narratives. The results of the study demonstrate that conceptual metaphors form mental spaces through which the reader perceives historical events. At the same time, they are a means of linguistic modeling of historical reality that is not directly perceivable by the individual.
