Abstract: Ethnocentric mythologemes in the contemporary Slavonic collective consciousness are of not only constructive but also of instrumental significance. Nowadays Slavic states seek cultural and political recognition in the world. The Illocutionary potential of the ethnocentric myths is directed to the increase of political status of those states and substantiation of the right to get an access to financial and economic resources of Europe. However the state, in which out-ofdate ethnocentric myths support the idea of might, becomes extremely vulnerable
