Abstract: This paper deals with the problem of representation of the power by the mass media viz. the means of depicting the images of the presidents of Russia (V.V. Putin) and Lithuania (Valdas Adamkus) by the mass media of «their own» countries. In the course of research the author distinguishes the three key mechanisms: 1. television presenting the image of the presidents, 2. speech acts of the statesmen represented by the press, 3. and also «the way the presidents’ speeches affect the future»
