Abstract: The authors survey works of European and American scholars who analyze metaphor in discourse of pedagogics and education. Of great interest are not only metaphors of pedagogical texts and shop-talk and their analysis as presented in Europe and USA but also the functional role of metaphor as a cognitive process that is sure to find its way into the field of education
