Аннотация: В статье рассматриваются деловые письма уральского заводовладельца Акинфия Никитича Демидова, прежде всего как факт истории русского языка. Эти архивные документы не известны в полном объеме широкому кругу историков, филологов, культурологов в силу того, что публиковались только отдельные эпистолы (например, А. С. Черкасовой). Уникальный текстовый источник позволяет наблюдать процесс заимствования слов из западноевропейских языков в русский и особенности их бытования в деловом письме петровского периода. Для языковой политики указанного периода можно обозначить две базовые тенденции: европеизация и демократизация. Европеизация языка обусловлена сменой идеографической сетки в обществе, а демократизация — снижением элитарной культуры, например в силу ее секуляризации. Заимствованные слова являются преимущественно терминами различных областей науки и промышленности. Подробно охарактеризована идеографическая сфера «Горное дело, металлургия». Что касается терминологии, то она представлена как иноязычными словами, так и исконными. Делается вывод об обязательном характере заимствований в письмах А. Н. Демидова, несмотря на избыточность иноязычных лексем в целом для совокупности текстов петровского периода. Материалы статьи могут быть использованы при научной систематизации иноязычной лексики памятников указанного периода, составлении и/или дополнении словарей языковой личности и словарей русского языка XVIII в

Abstract: The article examines the business letters of the Ural plant owner Akinfiy Nikitich Demidov, primarily, as a fact of the history of the Russian language. These archival documents are not familiar in full to a wide circle of historians, philologists, and culturologists due to the fact that only individual epistles have been published (Cherkasova 1994). A unique text source allows the researcher to observe the process of borrowing words from Western European languages into Russian and the peculiarities of their existence in business writing during the Peter the Great period. For the language policy of this period, two basic trends can be identified: Europeanization and democratization. The Europeanization of the language takes place due to a change in the ideographic grid in society, and democratization is brought about by a decline in elite culture, for example, because of its secularization. Borrowed words are predominantly terms of various fields of science and technology. The article characterizes the ideographic sphere “Mining, metallurgy” in detail. As for the terminology, it is represented by both foreign-language words and native ones. A conclusion is made about the obligatory nature of borrowings in the letters of Demidov, despite the redundancy of foreign language lexemes in the texts of the Peter the Great period in general. The materials of the article can be used in scientific systematization of the foreign language vocabulary of the monuments of the indicated period, in the compilation and / or addition of supplements to the dictionaries of linguistic personalities and the dictionaries of the Russian language of the 18th century
