Abstract: The study of the worldview is a major factor in understanding and interpretation of the work of any writer. The article discusses the evolution of the views of Mikhail Bulgakov on the revolution in connection with colour adjectives. Color in the works of Bulgakov not only expresses the author’s subconscious emotional perception of what is happening, but also allows to convey a specific emotional state. The writer, as a rule, doesn’t limit himself by "substantive" color epithets; the semantics of color in most of his works has political connotation. The authors of the article pay attention to the combination of ideological factors and the psychological impact of color in early Bulgakov's stories about the civil war and in the novel «The White guard». In these works Bulgakov rejects social stereotypes and strives to «become passionless over the red and the white» and the color palette allows to highlight the features of the writer’s worldview. In the 20-30-ies Bulgakov considers the problem of the influence of the revolution on the destiny of Russia. His novels «Heart of a Dog», «Fatal eggs» and the play «The Crimson island» are devoted to this problem.. And again the color gives an opportunity to understand the logic of the GREAT proponent of EVOLUTION. Satirical Comedy «The Crimson island» is a kind of apotheosis of Bulgakov's political color painting. Multi-layered conflict field of the play presents the textual (four acts of the inserted «play of Dymogatsky»), contextual («Prologue» and «Epilogue») and subtextual (a parody of «world quasi-revolution»). Color adjectives in the works of Bulgakov fully reflect the evolution of the worldview: the tragedy of class confrontation is gradually painted in a dramatic, ironic and, finally, farcical tone
