Аннотация: В статье представлены результаты социолингвистического исследования директивного дискурса петербургской власти, адресованного жителям города в первые месяцы эпидемии коронавируса. Анализу подлежали постановления петербургского правительства, распоряжения его профильных комитетов, законодательные акты, относящиеся к периоду март — май 2020 г., вызванные к жизни эпидемической ситуацией. Проведенный анализ выявил характерные особенности анализируемого дискурса. Ими являются неопределенность, неясность, невнятность используемых в нем понятий; нечитабельность самих документов, препятствующая их пониманию; их структурная неполнота; рассогласованность исходящих от власти рекомендаций и требований; выдвижение заведомо неисполнимых директив и, наконец, общая установка власти на непрямую коммуникацию и имплицитность высказываний, недопустимые для директивного дискурса и порождающие неоднозначность его интерпретации. Полученные результаты свидетельствуют о том, что и в условиях эпидемии местную власть мало заботил вопрос восприятия и адекватного, т. е. отвечающего замыслу создателей, понимания исходящих от нее директив теми, кому они предназначены. В самое трудное время начала эпидемии полноценного разговора с петербуржцами, как показало исследование, у власти не получилось

Abstract: This article presents the results of a sociolinguistic study of the directive discourse of the St Petersburg authorities which was addressed to the city's residents in the first months of the coronavirus epidemic. The analysis embraced the decisions taken by the St Petersburg government, the directives issued by its special committees, and the acts of legislation over the period from March to May 2020 brought to life by the situation of the epidemic. This analysis has revealed the specific features of the discourse under study, i.e. the uncertainty, vagueness, and indistinctness of the concepts used within it; the unintelligibility of the documents themselves, which impeded their comprehension; their structural incompleteness; the inconsistency of the recommendations and requirements coming from the authorities; the initiation of intentionally unfulfillable directives, and finally the general orientation of the authorities towards indirect communication and implicit statements, which are unacceptable for directive discourse and generate ambiguity in their interpretation. The results obtained indicate that, even in the circumstances of an epidemic, the local authorities were not overly concerned about the issue of perception or an adequate (that is, meeting the intention of its creators) understanding of the directives by those for whom they were intended. In the most difficult period at the beginning of the epidemic, as the study showed, the authorities failed to conduct a really feasible conversation with the people of St Petersburg
