Аннотация: Анализируются изменения, произошедшие в понимании феномена свободы в период XIX—начала XX вв. Материалом исследования служат данные толковых, энциклопедических, исторических и этимологических словарей. Наряду с анализом отечественной лексикографии проводится сопоставительное изучение зарубежных лексикографических изданий. Отмечаются идеологически обусловленные изменения в национальном понимании свободы и общеевропейская тенденция к унификации трактовки свободы в свете либеральной идеологии

Abstract: The article is devoted to the analysis of changes happened in understanding of freedom's phenomenon during the 19-th - beginning of the 20-th centuries. The materials for analysis are the data from glossaries, encyclopedic dictionaries, historical and etymological dictionaries. Alongside with the analysis of the Russian lexicography, comparative investigation of foreign lexicography was undertaken. Ideological caused changes in national understanding of freedom and common European unification trend of freedom interpretation under the influence of liberal ideology were mentioned
