Abstract: The author focuses upon the language of press discourse in the perestroika period, to be more exact of “Nash Sovremennik” and “Ogonyok” issues. The author tries to prove that modern style of journalism develops gradually and slowly involving a collision of opposite tendencies. There are no grounds to presume that this evolution of post soviet press discourse has been completed. In this article perestroika mass media discourse is treated as a rapidly developing system based upon a variety of styles and techniques
