Аннотация: Статья посвящена возможностям метафорического моделирования политической метафоры «new cold war» в различных областях абстрактного знания (например, «температура», «климат», «война», «спорт») в английском политическом дискурсе. Семантические связи исследуемой когнитивной метафоры с собственно феноменом cold war устанавливают ход переосмысления за счет дизъюнкции исходных прототипических значений, в том числе метафорически измененных значений соответствующих лексем (признакового «cold» или предметного «war», или совокупного значения — «cold war»). Холодная война как историческое событие стало одним из источников особого когнитивного опыта, который оказывает влияние на человеческое сознание. Описываемое явление представляет собой не просто веху в истории развития человечества, а является своеобразным сильным семантическим узлом (учитывая культурно обусловленную составляющую), который функционирует в конкретном языковом коллективе за счет переосмысления семантических значений лексем, входящих в состав одноименного атрибутивного словосочетания по модели Adj + N — признакового (знаки перцепции) «cold» и предметного (знаки когниции) «war». Политическая метафора «new cold war» представляет собой витальное переживание, основанное на существовании прямой угрозы безопасности или укрытию, которая выражается в функционировании знаков когниции в значении, и человеку, его телесной составляющей — за счет знаков перцепции. Необходимо отметить, что, как правило, метафорические конструкции, участвующие в моделировании понятия new cold war (ввиду его исходной негативной оценки), усиливают совокупную отрицательную смысловую нагрузку за счет собственных прототипических значений.

Abstract: The article studies the potential of metaphorical modeling of the political metaphor “new cold war” in various fields of abstract knowledge (for example, “temperature”, “climate”, “war”, “sport”) in English political discourse. The semantic connections of the cognitive metaphor under study with the cold war phenomenon proper influence the course of reinterpretation due to the disjunction of the original prototypical meanings, including metaphorically altered meanings of the corresponding lexemes (the attributive meaning “cold” or the substantive one “war”, or the aggregate meaning — “cold war”). The Cold War as a historical event has become one of the sources of special cognitive experience that has an impact on human consciousness. The phenomenon described is not just a milestone in the history of human development, but is a kind of strong semantic node (taking into account the culturally conditioned component), which functions in a particular language-speaking community due to rethinking the semantic meanings of the lexemes that make up the attributive phrase built according to the same model Adj + N — the attributive meaning (signs of perception) “cold” and the substantive meaning (signs of cognition) “war”. The political metaphor “new cold war” is a vital emotional experience based on the existence of a direct threat to security or shelter, which is expressed in the functioning of the signs of cognition in the meaning, and to a person, their bodily component — at the expense of signs of perception. It should be noted that, as a rule, metaphorical constructions involved in modeling the concept of “new cold war” (due to its initial negative evaluation), reinforce the cumulative negative semantic load with the help of their own prototypical meanings.
