Аннотация: Политические метафоры играют важную роль в политической пропаганде и дипломатической деятельности, помогая гражданам лучше понимать абстрактные политические концепции. Эффективный и адекватный перевод политических метафор особенно важен для читателей с разным социокультурным фоном. Настоящая работа рассматривает китайские оригиналы и английские и русские переводы первых четырех томов книги «Си Цзиньпин о государственном управлении»: были отобраны типичные примеры для анализа стратегий перевода политических метафор с точки зрения теории фреймов в когнитивной лингвистике. Исследование показало, что в переводе политических метафор могут возникать две основные ситуации: согласованность и рассогласованность когнитивных фреймов исходного и целевого языков. В зависимости от ситуации применяются разные стратегии перевода. При совпадении когнитивных фреймов используется стратегия прямого перевода метафоры; при несовпадении когнитивных фреймов могут использоваться такие стратегии, как поиск аналогичной метафоры в целевом языке, добавление комментария к метафоре, исключение исходной метафоры с прямым переводом и добавление новой метафоры. Исследование направлено на выработку полезных рекомендаций по переводу политических текстов для внешней аудитории.

Abstract: Political metaphor plays an important role in political propaganda and diplomatic activity, which can help ordinary people better understand abstract political concepts. Effective and adequate translation is especially important for readers with different social and cultural backgrounds. This paper carries out a comparative study of the Chinese original texts and English and Russian translations of the first four volumes of the book “Xi Jinping: The Governance of China”: the author has selected typical examples for analysis of the translation strategies of political metaphors from the point of view of the cognitive theory of the frame. It has been found that two basic situations may arise in the process of translation of political metaphors: coherence and incoherence of the cognitive frames of the source and target languages. Depending on the situation, different translation strategies are to be employed. In the case of coherent cognitive frames, the strategy of literal translation of the metaphor is used. When the cognitive frames are different (or incoherent), such strategies as search for the corresponding metaphor in the target language, provision of footnotes explaining the original metaphors, exclusion of the source metaphor with literal translation and inclusion of a new metaphor are employed. The study attempts to work out useful guidelines for the translation of political texts for foreign readers.
