Abstract: The urgency of the work is due to the growing prevalence of the Internet and the emergence of the Chinese network culture, which causes the need to analyze the translation of recurrent Chinese words in the Internet environment for effective information exchange between representatives of different cultures, in particular Russian and Chinese ones. The article is written taking into account the theory of translation ecology, aimed at improving the adequacy of reproduction of the meaning of the original text in translation. This requires taking into account all the parameters of the translation “ecological environment” — the specific features of the original language, the translation language, the communicative situation, the socio-cultural factors, and the generalized characteristics of the author and the reader. The article is written on the material of the translation of Chinese words into Russian. The article identifies and discusses the main methods of translating recurrent words of the Chinese language: 1. Direct, literal, and equivalent translation (an optimal translation option that allows the translator to accurately render the specific features of the original at all language levels). Basically, this method is used for vocabulary that does not manifest cultural specificity. Special attention should be paid to polysemous words. 2. Literal translation with comments (allows the translator to accurately render the linguistic features of the original, and allows the reader to understand the main meaning of the text, especially when figurative phraseological units are used). 3. Transliteration. It is used when cultural differences between Chinese and Russian in other translation solutions would lead to misunderstanding due to incomplete reflection of the meaning of the original, the inability to briefly describe the phenomenon behind the word. The author stresses the importance of a thorough analysis of the translation of Chinese words in the Internet environment for the dissemination and development of the Chinese online culture and the creation of the image of a tradition-preserving and at the same time modern, civilized country
